Like you meditate your way into enlightenment and suddenly you’ve unlocked the bonus level.
But it’s not that.
It’s me, in the bathroom, showing my daughter how to rinse the shampoo out of her wild little curls
while she dances in the shower, shrieking with joy and blinking through soap.
It’s not a portal. It’s not transcendence.
It’s knowing this right here is the moment that shapes her.
How she learns to care for her body.
How she learns what love sounds like.
What safety feels like.
Where belonging begins.
That’s it. A simple awareness.
It’s teaching her how to gently wash between her legs without shame or confusion.
How to sense when her own hair is clean.
How to name the overwhelm when the water hits her face too hard—
and how to shake it off and laugh again.
And if I miss this moment—
if I’m in my head chasing some higher version of myself,
or trying to stay zen
or scrolling through someone else’s idea of what parenting looks like—
I miss the whole thing.
This is not about peace.
This is not about becoming ethereal.
This is about knowing you’re actually in your life while it’s happening.
It’s not the next thing.
It’s not someday when your house is clean or your schedule is clear or your mind is calm.
It’s Nova dancing in the shower.
